On February 18th the ISO 12647/2 certification scheme requirements were published by the BPIF (British Printing Industries Federation). These set out what printers and print management companies need to do in order to gain certification against the ISO 12647/2 international standard for offset lithography.

Now that the requirements have been published, certification bodies will be able to conduct audits of companies against the standard and certify that companies have the necessary systems in place to ensure compliance against the standard.

Mellow Colour are well qualified to help you achieve ISO 12647-2 Certification as we sat on the BPIF technical committee that developed it, consequently  many elements of the standard are based on the Mellow Colour Proficient Printer scheme that we developed for printers some years ago.

In order to understand the principles of ISO 9001 (the framework on which the new scheme is based) two of our trainers qualified last year as ISO 9001 Lead Auditors and we currently have a number of UK pilot projects in progress.
These pilot projects will be reviewed by UKAS in the late spring along with the scheme itself, at which point we are expecting the scheme to achieve Accredited Certification status.
